Samsung Moment

My new phone. She so purty.

I am still really obsessed with webOS, Palm’s new operating system, but this phone is better for me. I just love buttons--the 4 arrow keys and the trackpad. I could probably manage with the Palm Pre, but I also like Google’s Android, and I have some apps that I’m not willing to wait for. They probably all will eventually be available in Palm’s App Catalog, but that could be weeks if not months off. Hopefully not years. Since I’m still with Sprint, I qualify for a new upgrade next year and I fully intend to purchase the Palm Pre 2 (or whatever 2nd gen device they come up with--I’m sure it will be hella cool and the hardware should be improved--the Pre is cute but I still need f-ing buttons, and all I ask for is a dang d-pad).

Right now, I think the Moment is the most underrated cell phone available. It is better than the HTC Hero (/Droid Eris) and it’s a helluva lot prettier than Verizon’s Droid, and I just don’t get the hype with the iPhone--it doesn’t even have a real keyboard. The only real competition is the Palm Pre, but I digress. No one has to like it but me, and I loves it. (Plus, BestBuy gave me a nice discount, with no stupid mail-in rebate. )

Oh, yeah, and today I managed to get a great deal on a new PC! I was hoping for one of the Black Friday $200 laptops, at Wal-Mart or Bestbuy, but I think I did WAY better than that. I’m sitting on 4gb of RAM and a 500gb HD! I broke my old PC trying to reformat/restore…though I do plan to at least attempt to load Ubuntu on it and maybe give it to my mom so she can play games, or whatever.

And even more good news, I’m “this” close to buying a house!
